Support
Frequently asked questions.
Is CareerPilot AI actually free?
Yes. Every tool — resume builder, ATS checker, all 12 generators, all 3 calculators — is free with no account required. The site is supported by ads rather than subscriptions or data sales.
Does my resume get sent to a server?
No. The resume builder, ATS checker, and every generator run entirely in your browser using JavaScript. Nothing you type is uploaded anywhere to produce a result. You can check this yourself — open your browser's network tab while using any tool and you won't see your resume content go out over the wire.
Where is my data stored?
Resume Builder data is saved to your browser's localStorage, which stays on your device only. Clearing your browser data, using a private/incognito window, or switching browsers or devices will not carry it over — there's no cloud sync, because there's no server to sync to.
How accurate is the ATS score?
It's a useful proxy based on section structure, keyword overlap, formatting red flags, and readability — not a live connection to any specific company's actual ATS software (there are dozens of different ATS platforms, and none expose a public scoring API). Treat a high score as a sign your resume is well-structured and readable, not a guarantee of passing any particular employer's system.
Is the writing generated by AI?
No. Every generator — bullets, summaries, cover letters, LinkedIn content, objectives, emails, letters — uses rule-based templates, action-verb libraries, and slot-filling from what you type, not a large language model. This is what makes it possible for everything to run client-side with no API calls.
What file formats can I export?
The Resume Builder exports to PDF (via your browser's print dialog) and to a standalone HTML file. The Portfolio Generator also exports a self-contained HTML file you can upload anywhere.
Do you support importing an existing resume?
Not yet — PDF/DOCX import is on the roadmap. For now, the fastest path is pasting your existing resume text into the ATS Checker, or copying details into the Resume Builder form.
What browsers are supported?
Any modern browser — Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge. The site uses standard HTML5, CSS3, and vanilla JavaScript (ES6+) with no framework dependencies.
